Derrycunihy Wood

Rounding the corner from Looscaunagh Lough, we encountered these views over Derrycunihy Wood and Upper Lake in Killarney National Park. Yeah, it's a nice neighbourhood...

The N71. Even for Ireland, this is a scenic highway.

The dominant tree here in Derrycunihy Wood is the sessile oak, Quercus petraea, which means "oak of rocky places". Seems fitting...

[The so-called "Ladies' View" and more scenery along the highway.]
